Pause to scrape the bowl, add in the heavy cream and vanilla. Continue to mix on medium-high speed until a fluffy frosting has formed. (About 1 minute)

Slowly add in a few drops of red and yellow food gel and mix by hand to incorporate. Add more gel coloring until your desired shade of orange is achieved.

FAQ

Can I use store-bought frosting instead of making my own vanilla buttercream?

Absolutely! While homemade vanilla buttercream adds a special touch, store-bought frosting can save time and still taste delicious.

Can I make these cupcakes in advance?

Yes, you can bake the cupcakes and prepare the frosting a day in advance. Just store them separately in airtight containers and assemble them on the day you plan to serve.

Are there any alternatives to white chocolate for the ghost decorations?

If you prefer, you can use fondant to create the ghost shapes for a different texture and flavor. This post shows how to make ghosts out of fondant: These Halloween Mini Candy Corn Cheesecakes are Hauntingly Delicious!
