- 12.4 oz package Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with icing (8 count package)
- 8 pretzel twists
- 26 mini chocolate chips
- 12 Mini M&Ms (3 each of same colors – we used red, green, blue and yellow)
- Orange cookie icing
NOTE: You can use different refrigerated cinnamon rolls. You would just possibly cut them differently to make the head smaller.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Using 4 of the cinnamon rolls, cut out about ¼ inch on the outer cinnamon roll, to create smaller circles for the snowman heads.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the cinnamon rolls. You’ll set a smaller one for the head, the body directly below, touching the head. Space them a couple of inches apart.
Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 10-13 minutes, until done. Allow to cool completely.
Using the icing that came with the cinnamon rolls, frost the snowmen.
Stick one pretzel into each side of the “body”.
Arrange 5 mini chocolate chips towards the bottom of the “head” for the mouth.
Squeeze the cookie icing out in the center above the mouth to make the carrot nose.
Arrange 2 mini chocolate chips for the eyes.
Line the Mini M&Ms “buttons” down the body of the snowman.
FAQ
Can I use any brand of refrigerated cinnamon roll dough?
Yes! Any brand will work—just choose your favorite. The key is to have rolls that bake up fluffy and golden so your snowmen hold their shape.
How do I keep the icing from melting off?
Let the cinnamon rolls cool for about 5–10 minutes before decorating. If they’re too warm, the icing will slide right off your snowmen’s “faces.”
What kind of candy works best for decorating?
Mini chocolate chips, candy-coated chocolates, and licorice strings make perfect eyes, buttons, and scarves. Feel free to get creative with whatever you have on hand! You can make them as festive and fun as you want.
Can I make these ahead of time?
Absolutely! You can make them a day in advance and store them covered at room temperature.
Tips & Tricks
- Chill before decorating: If your rolls are still warm, pop them in the fridge for a few minutes so the icing sets nicely.
- Use a piping bag (or zip-top bag): Snip a tiny corner to easily draw faces and add details with icing.
- Mix up the accessories: Try colored icing for scarves, holiday sprinkles for buttons, or mini marshmallows for earmuffs.
- Keep it mess-free: Decorate on parchment paper for easy cleanup and less sticky chaos.
- Make it a family activity: Set out a “snowman decorating station” with candies and let everyone design their own sweet creation!
